Rose is Gone

*****WARNING**** POSSIBLE TEAR JERKER!!!!

Rose lived with us for sixteen years.  We knew this day was coming.  You'd think that would make it a little easier.  It doesn't.

You always hope that your dog will go gently in her sleep.  Rose went lying on a silver table with kindly people cooing at her.

Rose never like to be cooed at.  They didn't know that.  They were just trying to make it less awful.  I stood there and rubbed Rose's neck.  She always liked neck rubs.

  2. I am so sorry, Lynn. Having a dog is one of the biggest paradoxes in life - all that love but only for such a short time. Perhaps this will make you feel better :) http://www.lgd.org/library/WhyDogsDontLiveAsLongAsPeople.htm

  3. So sorry to hear of your loss, Lynn. My last two losses went the way they were supposed to. Precious, my cat, was ill and she decided to go away and not come back. It was awful. Then my English bulldog had a heart attack in the middle of the night, spooked by a thunderstorm. He was 9.

I can't imagine either of them wanting people around cooing at them.

  4. It is so sad when our dogs who we love so much die too soon.
The eyes, smiles, woofs the waiting for you to come come at the door. When they leave us our life become to quiet the home becomes so quiet.
Both my dogs have so many health problems now and we are on a "watch" with Watson who will be 16 soon.
They are with us not long enough.

  5. Oh, Lynn...I am so very sorry. I've been through this far too many times in my life. I know the pain too well.

When Sam died, the vet told me the week before that he needed to be euthanized--but I knew he was afraid already. I explained that he needed to die at home, so I was given medication to keep him comfortable until the end came. I prayed I'd be able to hold him when he left us, that his time wouldn't come when we were sleeping. I held him and let him feel all the love I had to give him as he slipped from this life to the next.
