Memorial Day

Prayer for Memorial Day

God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Greater love has no man then this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
-John 15:13

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.  May they rest in peace.  Amen.

Some Like it Hot

This is day two of a what you might call a heatwave here at the homestead.  May can be a wild month, that's for sure.  Just last week you needed a coat and gloves.

Now it's swimming weather.  (And a dandy excuse to post another baby duck picture.)

Some Like it in a Pot

While cutting the first thyme this season, I found a squatter in the pot.

A thyme for frogs, you might say.

The little frog hung around the pot for a couple days, then vanished.

Maybe he didn't like living on borrowed thyme.
