Pop Culture Frenzy, Round 73

Welcome once again to Pop Culture Frenzy.   According to assorted polls done in the past several years, the number of people in the United States who identify as witches has increased.  So much so, that now it is believed that there are more witches than there are Protestants.

Why?
Fluffy?

Christianity has been effectively vilified
to the point that God is cast as a toxic white male
tyrant misogynist.  Little wonder that some kooks
and dimwits seek to fill that void with silly pseudo
self empowering mumbo jumbo.  Thus, we have neo witches
prancing around celebrating a post Christian era.

Hostmaster:  that's deep.

They tell themselves they have power.
Like those neo hags who put
 a hex on the president.

Witchcraft is a return to the earth and
 nature.  All answers are there.

No wonder squirrels are always
 digging in the earth!

What a hoot!
The hip and woke turn to the earth rather than
the God who created the earth.  Most of the older witches were
probably into New Age crap a couple decades ago.  That was a
repackaging of gnosticism.   They keep reinventing
themselves, each time pretending to have found truth.

They are returning to a simpler more authentic
way of relating to our world.  No hate, no greed.

 Simply sacrificing goats.  How authentic.
No greed?  Thanks to witchery, the psychic services industry
is busier than ever.  Witches are capitalists.
They must have some wicked self hate going.

 I'm suddenly hungry for goat.

Witches don't do sacrifices.
That's promoting a stereotype.

So no Chevon Pie at your coven's pot lucks then?

This round is over.

It's a good thing practicing voodoo would be cultural
appropriation or we'd really be in trouble.

Round 73

Here's an article on those polls.
